Blacksmith Endurance

About Blacksmith Endurance

Blacksmith Endurance produces human-powered endurance events in the Santa Barbara area, taking advantage of a temperate climate and wide range of recreational opportunities; centrally located and just two hours from LAX.

Events are professionally organized and run; and community, environment and family friendly. Proceeds support the preservation of our local resources, stewards of the environment, and area youth programs.

Blacksmith Endurance was founded in 2006 by lifelong Santa Barbara resident Robert A. Gilcrest, who says,

“There are many elements that have compelled me to organize these events: my personal life journey ... my success as a businessman and desire to give back to my community ... my passion for the ocean ... my love of the Santa Barbara backcountry ...and my desire to leave a legacy of stewardship and hope for my two young children.”

Blacksmith Endurance Co. has developed this series of trail races within the Santa Barbara Counties regional section of the Los Padres National Forest- Multi Use Area. Our mission is to nurture the growth of an annual trail race series that can responsibly promote and fiscally support the usage, maintenance, preservation of the dwindling trails resources. Proceeds from the Blue Canyon Trail Race and its sister races, The Little Pine Mountain Trail Race, The Divide Peak Trail Race and The Santa Barbara D.R.T.E. Ultramarathon will go directly to the Los Padres Forest Association to be used on projects that support, restore and preserve the Los Padres Forest’s trails and multi use system.
